About Ledge Access Panels - Technical Specifications and Product Information
Made of glass fiber reinforced gypsum (GFRG), our access panels are the newest offering in our Ledge Products line of GFRG and GRFC products. The panels are some of the highest quality available on the market today and are ideal for any location. Ledge access panels blend seamlessly into ceilings and walls to provide convenient access to building components.

Sizing for Our Standard Access Panels
The sizing for an access panel is determined by the door opening dimensions. The rough opening where the panel will be installed will generally have an additional 6” on these dimensions. Standard door opening sizes and weights are:
9” x 9” - (4lbs)
12” x 12” – (6 lbs.)
16” x 16” – (8 lbs.)
18” x 18” – (9 lbs.)
24” x 24” – (12 lbs.)
22 ½” x 30” – (15 lbs.)
30” x 30” – (19 lbs.)
Custom sizing is available on request and is suitable for larger projects. If you would like to special order a custom size, please contact us.
All of our access panels use either a hinged or drop-in door. Hinged access panels can be used on either wall or ceiling installations, while drop-in is for use on ceiling panels. Both options are available on any size access panel.
Installation and Framing
The access panel should be securely attached to studs or blocks during installation. Regular framing is not required for the panel itself and framing of the rough opening will depend on the standards of the job-site.
Panels are installed with #6 bugle head screws The connection between the drywall around the opening and the panel can be covered with joint tape which can then be sanded and finished so that the appearance is cohesive with the property.
Standard access panels are gypsum based with a natural off white color that can be painted to match the ceiling color. All finishing work should be done by the installer.
For external use, cement based (GFRC) access panels should be used to offer better durability against the elements. We are able to create cement access panels on special request.

GFRG access panels in the Ledge Products line adhere to the Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) emissions requirements set forth by the California Department of Public Health CDPH/EHLB/Standard Method Version 1.2, 2017 (Emission testing method for CA Specification 01350).
